Journey to a Low Water Use Garden Setback: “Honey, let’s fix the brick…”

Pebble Patio in the Front Yard
Prep Work on the Pebble Patio
Future Site of the Pebble Patio. See how I piled dirt on the lawn instead of spreading it evenly? Don’t do that!

Part as part of our lawn conversion project, we decided to install a pebble patio in front of the living room windows. Amazing Husband took some convincing to use pebbles as the surface area. I really liked the look and it is very English. Plus pebbles are a water permeable surface, should it ever rain again.

Amazing Husband built a low, curved brick wall to define the front of the patio area. The wall doubles as extra seating. With the wall built and the site for the pebble patio excavated, I was ready to order a load of pebbles when Amazing Husband called a halt to the proceeds until we (he) addressed the grievous state of the brick walkway near the house. He was correct. I was annoyed with the hold-up. But the job got done and I am soooooo happy now!
